Deschooling Society ~ Ivan Illich
Thanks to @open_media for the tip…
Deschooling Society
reinvention of learning throughout society and lifetime
(in 1971)
learning webs.
The operation of a peer-matching network would be simple. The user would identify himself by name and address and describe the activity for which he sought a peer. A computer would send him back the names and addresses of all those who had inserted the same description. It is amazing that such a simple utility has never been used on a broad scale for publicly valued activity.
Conviviality
Illich worked to open new possibilities. He argued that we need convivial tools as opposed to machines. Tools accept more than one utilisation, sometime even distant from its original means, so a tool accepts expression from its user. On the contrary, with a machine, humans become servants, their role consisting only of running the machine in a unique purpose.
Apture Search Tool: Chrome Extension Works on Amplify (Video) #amplify #apture
This is very cool Ampsters, and hopefully a first step in integrating Apture into Amplify. As some of you may know, I was heavily pushing for full Apture integration with Amplify, as yet it’s not occurred, but a little bird tells me that discussions are taking place soon ;o),.. I know the Amplify team have a development list that stretches half way around the world, so patience is most definitely required… fingers crossed.
I hope that this video will give those using Chrome no other reason than to instantly head over to Chrome Extension and install this wonderful Apture offering.

Social Impact of Friday 13th – Are You Superstitious?
Social impact
According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. “It’s been estimated that [US]$800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day”.

Stand and Deliver < Film Tip from @janet_frg
This film was recommended to me this evening – “an inspiring film especially for teachers, students and those interested in achieving something when the odds seem firmly against…” Thanks Janet.
Stand and Deliver
The vast contrast between home life and school life, however, begins to show as these teens struggle to find the balance between what other adults and especially their parents expect of them and the goals and ambitions they hold for themselves.Read more at en.wikipedia.org
My next Amplify Crusade, Integrating Apture
Adding Apture to Amplfy would need customisation and careful planning as not all the new features would fit for Amplify, but it would be great if a dialogue could occur between the two companies…
